Dr. Mina DeBoer Grew up in a small town in southwest Michigan where she started riding at a young age and developed her love of horses doing hunter/jumpers. She obtained her undergraduate degree in animal science at Michigan State University and then attended University of Glasgow for veterinary school. During her time in veterinary school, Dr.deBoer participated in several equine veterinary externships at various practices around the United States, and was the president of the Glasgow Equine Veterinary Society. Upon graduating from Glasgow, she moved to Virginia to complete an internship at the Piedmont Equine Practice, a premier sports medicine equine practice. In addition to extensive sports medicine training, she also gained experience in emergency medicine, internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, and reproduction. Dr.deBoer's particular interests in equine medicine are in sports medicine and general medicine. Eventually, she plans to pursue certification in chiropractic care and acupuncture. Dr.deBoer is a member of American Association of Equine Practitioners, and American Veterinary Medical Association.
She has a retired quarter horse named Cotton, and a house cat named Zephyr. For fun, Dr.deBoer enjoys hiking, baking, riding horses, drawing/painting, water sports, and spending time with friends and family.
