Dr. Grace Buchanan is a North Carolina Native who grew up riding hunters/jumpers in the local A show ring. She has worked in the veterinary field since high school, and worked as a veterinary assistant prior to and throughout her veterinary education. She graduated in the top of her class from North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation, Dr. Buchanan joined Teigland, Franklin and Brokken DVM's, an elite thoroughbred race track practice, where she focused on sports medicine, lameness prevention and internal medicine on racing thoroughbreds. During her time with TFB, Dr. Buchanan solidified both her love for the Thoroughbred horse and her passion for sports medicine and lameness prevention. She furthered this passion by getting her animal chiropractic education from Options for Animals College of Animal Chiropractic and becoming certified by the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association (IVCA) in 2014.
She then went on to complete her animal acupuncture training and certification through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS) in 2015. Though Dr. Buchanan enjoys all aspects of equine medicine, she is most passionate about sports medicine and complimentary medicine. Dr. Buchanan is thrilled to be back in North Carolina and would love to get to know you and your equine partners! In her free time, she enjoys riding her own horses, and is hoping to make it back to the show ring in the near future!. she also enjoys outdoor activities with her husband and their 4 dogs. She also enjoys continuing to grow in knowledge and skill as a veterinarian and is an active member of the following organizations: American Associate of Equine Practitioners, American Veterinary Medicine Association, North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association, International Veterinary Chiropractic Association, International Veterinary Acupuncture Society, and American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture.
